Welcome

Welcome to the institute. Igbo is one of the predominant races in Nigeria with a domestic population of 55 million people and over 40,000 families in the Institute’s host nation. Igbo neighbours are Benin (Nigeria) on the West, the Yukun-Tiv (Habes) on the north, Cameroon on the east and Gabon on the sea of Atlantic on the south.

Igbo is a name, a race, custom, place and system of expression as anglicised to Heebo, Ibo, Eboe and Hackbous amongst foreigners. Genealogically, Igbo is traced to Lemechi and Ada in the Bible. Igbo is the original home of the Bantu peoples of Afrika. History has it that the aborigines of India, Chino (now China), Australia and Japan hailed from Igbo Community. History further has it that 80 per cent of the people removed from West Afrika during the slave trade (1441-1901) hailed from Igbo.

The institute came by no surprise in the 21st century to further researches, to harmonise and integrate efforts on Igbo heritage. The Institute is a channel of excavation, exposition and expression. Now in its sixth millennia from Adam, tracing Igbo roots and branches, the Institute aims to provide the missing links in the world’s ailing history to rekindle new affection into humanity. The Institute recognises geological, forensic and scientific methods but will use customary approaches to establish and challenge the faculties of learning that put the world at a cross road. The Institute will provide and promote verifiable paths to peaceful and orderly world.

Whatever the wisdom, novelty, ostentation or arrogance, there are three main titles in Igboland and a true Igbo man is one who knows the custom and tradition of the land; hence, it is an abomination for an adult to stand watch while the goats hang on the rope.
